Tobe Nwigwe's Minty-Fresh Reebok x Chukwu Collab Releases Feb. 21

Multi-hyphenate creative Tobe Nwigwe recently partnered with Reebok on a sneaker and apparel collection that combines his experience playing collegiate football with the global brand's sports heritage.

Although the collection includes a coaches jacket, graphic tees, and other clothing items, its central piece is Nwigwe's take on the Reebok Preseason Turf Trainer. A relic from the 1990s, the silhouette lies perfectly at the intersection of Reebok's performance lineage and inherent, bold attitude. Nwigwe's take is a lifestyle-informed update, but his choice in silhouette was intentional given his own athletic past.

"I chose the Preseason to be my first shoe because it’s an immaculate silhouette—simple, yet iconic," Nwigwe shared in a press release for his collaboration. "The Preseason represents hard work and excellence, and it felt like the perfect shoe to launch my own journey."

Produced through his CHUKWU Brand, the retro sneaker takes on a high-quality suede update across its upper. Co-branding throughout the pair work in-tandem with a minty green hue to further distance the Preseason Turf Trainer from its performance origins. Gum brown panels across the outsole also inject a summer-friendly touch into the pair, which will surely attract a fashion-forward audience. Updates to the lacing system and hardware by the Houston-born artist further contribute to the lifestyle nature of the collaboration.
