Colour Plus Companie Reworks the Saucony Matrix with An Outdoor Aesthetic

Saucony Originals continues to collaborate with smaller-scale tastemakers to breathe new life into its expansive archive. For its latest linkup, the historic running brand has tapped Jordan Page of Colour Plus Companie to rework the Saucony Matrix.

Reintroduced to the market with the help of Jae Tips, the Matrix is a relic from the year 2000. While yet to experience the retro run of silhouettes like the ProGrid Triumph 4, its turn-of-the-century design is ripe for refreshing styles that'll fit into the current sneaker zeitgeist. Page's latest collaboration with Saucony promises to do just that, reimagining the runner in a 'Beige/Brown' color scheme inspired by Y2K, hippy, and outdoor aesthetics.

Akin to its GRID Shadow 2 project from September 2023, Colour Plus Companie's Matrix features a hairy suede across its upper. Textile panels along the profiles further contribute to the pair's rugged attitude, falling in line with other 'Wheat'-colored footwear popular during fall and winter. Page's brand lends its namesake to the top of the tongue in a multi-colored, playful manner that also lands on the footbed. Pull tabs at the heel deliver a zig-zag detail that harkens back to the 1990s, while the spines boast sun and peace-sign icons in vibrant colors that inject personality into the Saucony Originals offering.

Underfoot, the color story switches up a bit. The same 'Black' tone that takes over the Runbird logo on the profiles covers the bulk of the angular midsole. Mid-foot shanks deviate in green flair, but the tread reverts to an autumnal brown that ties the package together.

The Colour Plus Companie x Saucony Matrix arrives with additional, colorful laces to enable personalization.
