Gallery Dept. is back with another Vans collaboration, and this time, the Los Angeles-based streetwear brand is bringing its signature artistic chaos to the Vans Authentic. Known for its deconstructed, paint-splattered aesthetics, Gallery Dept. has gained a reputation for turning classic silhouettes into wearable pieces of art. With its latest effort, the brand applies that philosophy to one of Vans’ most timeless designs.
The shoe features a classic off-white canvas upper, but it doesn’t stay clean for long—bold multicolor paint splatters cover the toe box, adding an unmistakable Gallery Dept. touch. The design doesn’t stop there, as Josué Thomas incorporates his “Art That Kills” branding with red logos across the distressed midsole, while black Gallery Dept. branding graces the insoles. A yellow Gallery Dept. tag is affixed to the upper, complementing the signature blue foxing stripe for a balance of modern artistry and heritage design.
This isn’t the first time Gallery Dept. has applied its handcrafted aesthetic to footwear. The brand’s ASICS GT-2160 collaboration in 2023 quickly became one of the most sought-after ASICS releases in recent years, with resale prices soaring well past retail. With the same paint-splattered concept applied to a Vans icon, demand is expected to be just as high.
The Gallery Dept. x Vans Authentic releases on March 27th via otw.vans.com and select global retailers. The MSRP is set at $150, a premium price tag for an Authentic, but one that reflects the one-of-a-kind detailing.
