Slip-on foam footwear was arguably the biggest trend in footwear over the past 18 months, with every brand from Jordan to New Balance joining the clog wave. Without a doubt, the most contentious entry into the market was adidas and their adifom Q, a sneaker that Kanye quickly called out for plagiarism in a time shortly before he was outed from the company. The Three Stripes quickly rebutted with some strong evidence of retro inspiration. Like that pair, their newest entry into the segment, the adidas adiFOM Superstar, draws from the brand’s extensive back catalog, this time being less obscure in its inspiration.
Ditching the lacing system and extending the shell toe all the way up to the ankle, the exoskeleton frame of the shoe is — pardon the pun — a shell of it’s inspiring sneaker. Still, the shapeless slipper seems to harness the OG with precision thanks to strategically placed Three Stripe and heel paintwork.
A release date for the adidas adiFOM Superstar “Core Black” ghas not yet been set, but i with pairs already release in the APAC region, you should expect to see a Stateside rollout soon.
