Adidas' Adizero range might be focused on developing the most lightweight, reliably-aggressive performance models for the best runners in the world, but it's recently taken the time to play around in the lifestyle space. The result?: The Aruku.
Having debuted last year, the silhouette harkens back to the early 2000s – specifically the Adizero PR racing flat. And while the model's upper faithfully pays homage to the decades-old runner, its SWIRLFOAM midsole is unquestionably rooted in the Three Stripes' present-day innovations. The soft and responsive compound picks up where BOOST cushioning left off in the 2010s, but delivers a much more propulsive ride with the help of the rocker geometry at the forefoot.
Over the course of its lifespan, the Adidas Aruku has taken on a slew of colorways. The original 'Cloud White/Pure Ruby/Core Black' option was borrowed from the Adizero PR, but follow-up styles have cemented the Aruku as a lifestyle product of the 2020s. Two newly-surfaced takes featuring 'Silver Metallic' accents further expand the sneaker's catalog. The shimmering hue takes over synthetic panels across the profiles, while mesh base layers opt for either 'Grey' or 'Crystal White' contrast. Exaggerated SWIRLFOAM midsoles also opt for either black or white finishes, respectively, presenting different styles for either preference.
Enjoy official photos of the Aruku duo ahead. Both 'Silver Metallic'-accented pairs should hit Adidas.com throughout spring for $140 each.
