adidasHoops young gun Donovan Mitchell has found inspiration for his debut DON Issue 1 signature sneaker from many places. From Marvel’s Spider-Man to Jazz legend Karl Malone, Spida has drawn from influences around him to make his sneakers feel more authentic. LeBron James is one of those influences, and like many of his young peers, the King inspired him from a young age. So much so that a 13-year-old Mitchell attended LeBron’s “Decision” back in 2010. Now, he looks to tribute the King through his sneaker, in a colorway that’s reminiscent of the unforgettable LeBron X Elite:
It’s easy to see the resemblance, but there are a few obvious tweaks: The uppers take on more black, speckled midsoles move up to the overlay and are inverted, as are the tongues and lacing system. Blue-tinted outsoles arrive as a new addition, too. But overall, it holds the same vibe as the revered LeBron X — a sneaker we hope to see get a retro release in the near future. But until that day happens, these clean DONs will cure the thrist.
A release date is pegged for October 5th, with pairs set to arrive directly on adidas.com for $100.
