The Adidas Samba has lived many lives since its debut as a football boot for icy pitches in 1949. Recent memory has seen it explode in popularity amongst fashionable men and women across cities like New York, Paris, and London, prompting competitors to reissue or introduce their own low-profile, football-inspired silhouettes.
Ahead of summer, the T-toe style has surfaced in a plethora of new ensembles. Long Tongue-variants have appeared alongside pairs inspired by modified editions from the 1960s. All offerings, however, have been rooted in the German sportswear institution's sports heritage, delivering it in a fashion-forward package. An impending "Core Black/Gum Five" option adds yet another tally to Adidas Originals' growing roster of compelling retro product. Its color palette might leave something to desire, but the Samba's "Gold Metallic" branding elements and faux crocodile leather at the profile 3-Stripes and Achilles' heel elevate the decades-old design.
