Adidas Originals continues its successful revival of the SL 72, and next up for the retro runner is a bold new “Better Scarlet” colorway that adds fresh energy to the decades-old silhouette.
Originally designed in the early 1970s for lightweight performance, the SL 72 has recently been reimagined as a street staple—seen on everyone from casual wearers to style icons like Bella Hadid. This new release leans into that retro-meets-modern space with a rich red nylon base, overlaid by tonal suede panels across the toe, eyestays, and heel.
Off-white leather overlays contrast the Three Stripes and heel tab, while a warm dark brown trim runs just above the midsole for added depth. Underfoot, an off-white foam sole keeps the palette clean, while the classic gum rubber tread nods to the silhouette’s heritage roots and rounds out the earthy color mix. Dual lace options arrive in brown and sail to round out the design.
Look for the Adidas SL 72 “Better Scarlet” to release this summer on adidas.com for around $100.
