Although the Three Stripes continues to innovate for sport, the German institution keeps celebrating some of its most beloved designs through the Adidas Originals line. Throughout the year, it's honed in on the Superstar, offering it in a plethora of styles in honor of its 55th anniversary. For its latest effort, the sportswear juggernaut has looked to Tokyo for inspiration.
Official photos acquired by Elden Monitors showcase at least four pairs of the Adidas Superstar II with bubble letter text calling out the Japanese capital on the outsole. The iconic "shell-toe" takes on a mix of two-tone and tonal styles, coupling white and black finishes with silver and gold elements, respectively. Autumnal "Dark Brown" and Mesa" also join the mix, delivering versatile presentations of the old school basketball sneaker. A backstory isn't yet known, but the newly-surfaced quartet arrives after Superstars inspired by London's 1970s punk and 1990s French hip-hop scenes. It's likely, then, that the Tokyo-donning pairs commemorate some aspect of the global destination, although it's important to note no pair features special hang tags like their predecessors.
Firm Adidas.com release details haven't been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but that's expected to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy official photos of the special pairs ahead.
