Sneaker brands sure like to celebrate cities. It’s a long-running theme for every footwear label, but none love it more than German sportswear giants adidas. Every other month it seems that we get a new “City Pack” from the Three Stripes, be it Ultra BOOSTs, Stan Smiths or Superstars. And while those standalone release doesn’t apparently belong to a pack, it does shout out one of the world’s biggest streetwear-loving locales in Toyko.
There’s really not much to report here; a classic white and black Superstar is served up at its core, with only a few embellishments to differentiate it from your stock-standard release. Notably, the Velcro heel overlays provide some interchangeable flair, with one tag reading Tokyo in English, complete with a location pin drop pull, the other in reading Tokyo in Kanji — both arriving in gold foil finishes. Tongue detail opts for black, while special-edition insoles remind us of the silhouette’s big half-century celebration.
Pairs are currently available in Japan, but we’re not too sure if these will eventually make it Stateside. Either way, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with the details right here and on Twitter. Until then, enjoy an official look at the pair here below.
