Having worked together on countless occasions, there is no doubt that adidashas learned a thing or two from Japanese streetwear icons Bathing Ape. And although this new Superstar is not a collaborative effort, it sure does pay a huge tribute to their long-standing patterns from across the globe, as adidas has installed a variant of BAPE’s greyscale camo to its iconic sneaker.
Construction-wise, it’s very much a staple white Superstar, with premium smooth leather across the uppers and that iconic rubber toe cap. There are, however, some not-so-subtle additions, like the deployment of camo to the Three Stripe and heel overlays, retro-inspired sidewall branding, and grey rubber outsoles underfoot; The pair even employs black enamel dubraes akin to those found in several BAPE x Superstar collabs from over the years.
