Despite its commitment to change lives through sport, Adidas continues to bring its expertise in apparel, footwear, and accessories to the lifestyle space. Its Originals division has been leading the charge, reimagining some of the most iconic athletic shoes for the runway and street. For its latest experiment, the brand presents the Taekwondo Mei Ballet, a premium offering exclusively for Women.
Based on the foundation laid by the Taekwondo Mei, the silhouette was last seen in the early 2000s. The Three Stripes formerly offered the Adidas Jisho, a ballet flat-reminiscent model. In comparison to its decades-old predecessor, the Taekwondo Mei Ballet is more robust (if you can believe it).
A minimal build appears throughout the Women's footwear product, with suede and leather divvying up real estate on most finishes. One of the inaugural color schemes feature a "Clear Sky/Footwear White" combination that sees the former tone animate the fabric material. Profile 3-Stripes, and the overlay that splits the toe and wraps around the "collar" deviate in color and material. Furthermore, the included three sets of laces allow for wearers to customize the look of their Adidas ballet flats.

By comparison, the Jisho Mary Jane style only featured an elastic band to secure the foot in place. The segmented outsole included a dimpled traction pattern visible from the sides.
