adidas and their year-long anniversary celebration of the Superstar in 2020 will be book-ended with a bang — a two-piece BAPE x adidas Superstar collection.
Of course, the 50th birthday year was kicked-off with an epic (and hella-expensive) Prada collaboration, with efforts from Jonah Hill, Beyonce, and atmos along the way. With COVID delays causing havoc in 2020, some of the celebratory series was undoubtedly delayed, with these two likely in that pool. Honoring both brands, the iconic Japanese label dresses the efforts in respective signature styles.
One takes on the heritage white build with black Three Stripe overlays and a plethora of gold accents throughout. Black leather liners add a point of difference, while box logo-branding at the profile and pre-aged Shell Toes add a vintage appeal. The other honors the colorful camos of BAPE, with each panel sporting its own unique finish. Rear overlays and liners again return to premium black leathers, while both pairs are completed by some BAPE-centric tweaks, including co-branded tongues, and chunky dubraes at the forefoot.
