At 82 years old, Yohji Yamamoto continues to showcase a mastery of silhouette, effortless style, and vision. His innovative adidas Y-3 label also keeps showcasing a widely-unrivaled ability to merge luxury and sportswear while also tapping into niche spaces to elevate them through his platform.
Case in point?: The work of Seattle-born artist CHITO.
Yamamoto has collaborated with the self-taught creative on one-off and highly-limited product before, but it seems the Japanese icon is now ready to get CHITO's work to more people. During the most recent Paris Fashion Week®, the Yohji Yamamoto Spring/Summer 2027 showcase included first-ever looks at a street-ready +F50 TUNIT collaboration between Y-3 and CHITO. In April, Yamamoto and the Three Stripes reissued the "Beast Pack" of their lifestyle-friendly +F50 TUNIT, a move that was received well by fans of the highly-limited original drop. The linkup with CHITO confirms Y-3 isn't done with the adidas Football design just yet.
In comparison to the aforementioned "Beast Pack" or Yaksha "Red Dragon" capsule, the CHITO Y-3 F50 TUNIT duo is a lot tamer: all-over artwork of colorful animal spirits is replaced with glossy, iridescent finishes that see "Black" and "Utility Black" claim most real estate. Airbrush-inspired "Y-3" and 3-Stripes branding appear on the upper, forgoing the "Finesse Pup" motif that's appeared across some of CHITO's most-recognized work—including a 1-of-100 Stan Smith for Yamamoto.
Enjoy official photos of the F50 TUNIT project ahead. Pairs should land via adidas.com by the first-half of 2027.
