Did It Ourselves—also known as DIOS—is a Houston-based brand founded in 2020 by rapper LE$ and his business partner Jorge "Jorgey" Casanova. Over the years, the independent operation has amassed an audience through culturally-relevant product and a welcoming storefronts in Texas. Recently, DIOS worked with Adidas Originals on a Friends & Family-exclusive (or Homies and Familia, as brand founders call it), which teases a public launch before the end of the year.
The 55th anniversary-celebrating Adidas Superstar was LE$ and Jorgey's canvas. The F&F edition sees the old school basketball sneaker's blueprint reworked to include a different rubber "shell-toe." Other updates by DIOS include canvas profile 3-Stripes, contrast stitch lines across the entirety of the upper, and DIOS-branding on the tongue label, embroidered onto the lateral heel, and in the form of special hangtags.
Given that the Superstar has been celebrating its 55th anniversary, the model has emerged in dozens of new styles over the last nine months—including limited collaborations with Wales Bonner, HELLSTAR, and South Korea's Thug Club. DIOS' first proper public launch—clad in a "Core Black/Crew White/Gold Metallic" color scheme—deviates from some of its kin, arriving in the form of the Superstar XLG.
The silhouette's thicker sole unit and puffier proportions across the upper speak to the design's XLG (read: extra large) distinction. DIOS' touches are relatively simple, introducing contrast stitching throughout the top-half, as well as semi-distressed profile 3-Stripes, motivational messaging behind the tongues, and brand-specific visuals on the lateral heel and Achilles' heel.
The "Black" pair is available now on Adidas US.
