Pharrell Williams has been a key collaborator for the Adidas Originals division since 2014. Over the years, the highly-influential multi-hyphenate has transitioned from reworking classic designs like the Superstar and Stan Smith to developing all-new models under his own product banners.
Today, the 11-year-old partnership presents its latest chapter: VIRGINIA.
Initial messaging of the new line, which kicks off with the chunky Adistar Jellyfish, shares that VIRGINIA is a "new expression of elevated streetwear within the [A]didas universe." The line's name draws inspiration from Williams' home state and joins Humanrace™ as another Three Stripes-backed label.
It's still unclear exactly all the types of designs, products, and narratives that'll live under the "VIRGINIA" banner, but a Superstar '92 collab from March was marketed with the same name. Outside of the Three Stripes connection, inaugural items for the new platform include t-shirts, a beach umbrella, surfboard, and more, all live on the Black Yacht Rock website. Community events and other creative ventures will also form part of VIRGINIA.
Early visuals for the line see Virginia Beach, VA and bodies of water-at-large as focal points. Sam Clayman, an artist based in the coastal city, provided colorful, expressive, and gritty artwork for the launch of Pharrell Williams' latest project.
Check out some marketing material for VIRGINIA ahead, and stay tuned for more details to go live on Adidas.com/Pharrell.
