WOODstack's adidas Adistar Control 5 Speaks to the "Blood, Sweat & Tears" That Go Into Entrepreneurship
WOODstack might've began as a big bold bet in 2011, but it's now a trusted retailer and member of the New York City community. The last decade-and-change, however, hasn't been easy for storeowners. When presented with the opportunity to collaboration with adidas Originals on its own Adistar Control 5, the team at the Brooklyn-based shop decided to tell the story of all the "Blood, Sweat & Tears" that goes into entrepreneurship.
According to WOODstack, its take on the retro running model is "a testimony to the complicated journey of entrepreneurship...[t]he blood, sweat and tears that power every business." To this end, the team has reimagined the mesh-heavy, technical silhouette in a medley of deep burgundy, shimmering silver, and light blue. Every tone represents the project's moniker while referencing details like the metal gates that are raised and dropped each business day.
Always a proponent of community, WOODstack has taken its Adistar Control 5 collaboration as a platform to highlight different small-business owners from across NYC. The businesses are: Michaels of Brooklyn, The OMA Shop, Aunt ET Uncles, and Bodega City. Each member to feature in campaign material will join a $5K Small Business Grant competition to support emerging entrepreneurs. WOODstack chose these partners because they embody the "Blood, Sweat & Tears" concept behind the adidas sneakers.
Enjoy detailed photos of the next Originals collaboration ahead. Pairs launch Wednesday, Dec. 17, at WOODstack Flatbush (1353 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn).
