Masayuki Ino, the creative force behind Doublet, reimagines the GEL-Kayano 20 with a unique narrative, transforming the familiar into the unexpected. According to insights shared with Highsnobiety, Ino’s design is inspired by a sneaker emerging from its shoebox, with the box becoming an integral part of the shoe’s design. This concept is materialized through Tyvek, a durable and lightweight material that mimics the texture of cardboard. Over time, the sneaker's appearance evolves as the Tyvek wears, simulating the aging process of a cardboard box exposed to the elements.

Anticipated by many since its debut at Paris Fashion Week in June, the Doublet x ASICS GEL-Kayano 20 is set to hit shelves on November 16th, 2024.
