VANDYTHEPINK® x ASICS GEL-Nimbus 10.1 "Strawberry" Global Release Expected June 2025
VANDYTHEPINK® might not be a household name, but the South Korean label continues to draw global attention through its conceptual projects. During the recent atmoscon, creative director Junghoon Son unveiled his latest collaborative sneaker, reimagining the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 10.1 through the lens of the banana split dessert.
A proud ice cream lover, Son has continued to food-inspired themes for his inaugural linkup with ASICS. A past collaboration with Salomon brought burgers and fries to sneaker-form (similar to a recent Air Jordan 1 Mid duo). VANDYTHEPINK®'s next offering looks to the sweet treat after the meal, employing "Banana" and "Strawberry" color schemes across two pairs. The former launched exclusively to atmos' convention over the weekend, but the pink-covered style is set to release at a wide array of retailers before summer ends.
Akin to other popular retro ASICS sneakers, the special linkup features a plethora of metallic silver components across the running-informed upper. Breathable mesh bases, however, indulge in either a light yellow or pink flavor; vector logos on the profiles and inner lining follow suit. The Asian imprint's familiar flower logos appear on the lateral heel via non-standard tags, with co-branding and a banana split graphic stamped on the insoles. A cream-colored finish takes over the bulk of the GEL-donning tooling underfoot for a faux-vintage aesthetic. Finally, two sets of laces and a custom shoe box round out the project.
