Steven Smith is responsible for handfuls of innovative footwear designs, amassing his catalog of creations over the last 40 years. With a resume that includes Nike and YEEZY, he could rest on his laurels, but he isn't. Now Head of Innovation Design and Executive Vice President at Crocs, Smith is helping the Colorado-based expert in comfort win over audiences with Ripple, a futuristic clog that quickly drew comparisons to the FOAM RUNNER he previously helped usher in to market.

According to Smith, Crocs Ripple took about nine months from ideation to final product, with only three proper tweaks taking place along the way. Launched in limited quantities during ComplexCon and then at Flight Club Miami during Art Basel, the laceless silhouette is back with another color scheme—"Retro Ice/Lime Burst." Smith's design, however, continues to favor limited runs as its second, slightly-more-eye-catching ensemble will release exclusively at the Crocs SoHo store in New York City (543 Broadway) today, Feb. 19.

Ripple features the same comfort championed by the ever-popular Crocs Classic Clog. Its design, however, pushes the brand's boundaries thanks to its overall shape and ripple panels along the sides and outsole. The aforementioned "Lime Burst" tone animates the footbed, perforated sections on the sides, and the soft traction zones underfoot.

Crocs™ branding is kept minimal on Ripple, only appearing as a small wordmark on the upper spine.

It's unclear whether or not the two-tone Ripple will release via Crocs.com at some point. The pair, however, arrives in-person to Crocs SoHo at 10 a.m. EST on Feb. 19. The shoe is priced at $90.
