Steven Smith, YEEZY's former Head of Product Design, has recently been linked to a laceless Crocs silhouette that's lead netizens to draw similarities between it and the FOAM RUNNER.

Now Head of Innovation Design and Executive Vice President at Crocs, Smith has maintained a relatively low-profile since joining the Colorado-based expert in comfort in December 2024. His new design was shared via social media by Instagram user @philiplpost, who expressed that Cesar Idrobo (also now of Crocs and formerly of YEEZY) gifted him the pair. The pair—officially called the Crocs Ripple—was present at ComplexCon Las Vegas, as showcased by @sneakerdenn on Instagram Stories.

The model abandons traditional lacing and the Crocs Classic Clog's heel strap in favor of a clog-like build. Three perforations appear on the top of the model, with two radial-shaped moldings appearing across both profiles. The grey-and-blue color scheme complements the design's bold nature, which will surely inspire more eye-catching color executions throughout the Ripple's lifecycle.

Other design elements on Smith's design include:

    • A sneaker-like fit and toe-down aesthetic – built off a sneaker last that gives the wearer a familiar fit but from a fully-molded shoe
    • A flexible yet supportive experience that utilizes Crocs’ Free Feel™ technology for a fully-molded upper
    • The Crocs Mellow™ foam compound across the footbed for ultimate underfoot comfort
    • A TPU shank integrated into the mid-foot for torsional stability and support
    • Jibbitz™ charm compatibility integrated into the vamp of the shoe with a three-post backing

Smith's Crocs Ripple sees an early launch at Flight Club Miami on Friday, Dec. 5. A limited number of pairs will coincide with the beginning of Art Basel, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Flight Club Miami is located at 3910 NE 1st Ave. A global Crocs.com release has been scheduled for Thursday, March 5. The Ripple is priced at $90.
