First things first, Rest in Peace Uncle Phil. Secondly, HOUSE OF HEAT is an inclusive company, so no matter what your gender, age, race or orientation, you shoul whole-heartedly give this application your all.

Before we get started, we must tell you this: Everyone wants to work in this industry, so please keep in mind that we receive a ton of applications, most of which we may not be able to reply to. If you don’t hear from us, it doesn’t mean we won’t be a good fit in future endeavors.

So, here’s what we’re currently looking for at HOUSE OF HEAT:

Social Media Gun — Part-Time/Full-Time

Yo, are you the next @liljupiterr? We bloody well hope so. Because the team here at HOUSE OF HEAT is currently on the lookout for someone to take charge of our key social media platforms and do a damn good job of it. The top gun will be like the Goose to our Maverick, working with the editorial team, but also working autonomously. Of course, we want you to help grow our presence as well as our web readership — but we also want you (and our followers) to have a bit of a lol, too. In addition to that, you’ll have all the stock-standard weekly reporting, planning and implementation you’d expect from any social media management position.

To be a successful applicant for this role you need to:

  • Have a better personality than a cardboard box
  • Show us that you can curate an engaging and entertaining feed
  • Show that you can make a good killer meme.
  • Be on top of ALL things sneaker-related as they happen (NBA on-foots, celebrity culture, etc)

But most importantly, we’re looking for the right attitude — and a consistent one at that.

Roles include, but not limited to:

  • Plan and maintain a social publishing calendar, as well as being available for on-the-fly posts.
  • Drive growth against weekly and monthly targets to keep building our audience (of course)
  • Further develop the HOUSE OF HEAT brand  personality (without being a dick)
  • Generate real conversation with our followers — and don’t be afraid of a good-old friendly roasting.
  • Build and develop social media networking for future collaborations and partnerships (because we need to get paid)
  • Report on your killer social performance.

We’d love you to have these, too:

  • Some experience managing social accounts for a publisher or agency.
  • Fluency in all social platforms, i.e. knowing the best methods and tricks for engagement, imagery and text specs & paid promotion opportunities
  • Great networking and/or sales experience.
  • Experience working with creative teams (if you haven’t don’t worry, we’ve got a killer set of designers who can help you with any questions)
  • Basic Photoshop skills
  • You need to know your shit. You don’t have to know everything — but be across all brands, sports, athletes, events, and celebs (if you live on social media, this should be no problem)
  • Strong written skills, including being across pop-culture language (we don’t want no Boomers!)
  • And to be fast to catch onto memes, culture themes and trending stories.

How to apply:

Hint: First impressions last.

Got what it takes? Follow these instructions when submitting your application:

  • YOU decide the subject line of the email. This will decide on whether or not we’ll even open your application — after all, this entire role is about attracting attention.
  • Tell us about yourself, your interests, how you got into sneakers, etc.
  • Tell us what you love/hate about HOUSE OF HEAT on social media (be brutally honest)
  • Include a case study on a recent social media campaign you worked on.
  • Attach your resume in .pdf format
  • If applicable, include examples of your personally curated feeds on Twitter and Instagram that show off your creative flair and killer personality.
Once you’re done, email all of that over to [email protected]

US-Based Contributor — Casual/Part-Time

The internet age has made publications like ours a 24-hour business. We need someone Stateside to compliment our Aussie-based HQ during the first half of the day. As a HOUSE OF HEAT contributor, you’ll be — believe it or not — contributing to HOUSE OF HEAT’s daily news posts, social media copy, and other special projects that may arise. We need you to be on top of upcoming and rumored sneaker drops, product launches, industry events and more. Because we cover a wide range of brands, you need to know your shit. It’s a big plus if you have your own blog or prior experience in publication, as working remotely limits us in our ability to train you. You must be good with words (preferably better than I) and you must know how to piece together an engaging, easy-to-read article. And if you can inject a slice of humor and fun, we’re all for it.

Roles include, but not limited to:

  • Source, write, edit and publish blog-posts on news, releases, and happenings as it unfolds.
  • Focus on select brands that fit our readership
  • Building our Where To Buy / Release Calendar features
  • Be ahead of our competitors on the latest releases, leaks, and retailers
  • Researching, fact-checking, and planning
  • Editorial and opinion content.

We’d love you to have these, too:

  • College-level writing ability
  • Natural ability to wordsmith
  • The rare skill of writing a banging headline
  • Basic photoshop skills.
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Professional/personal blogging experience a BIG plus
  • Obsessive interest in finding scoops, stories, and leaks.
  • Incredible attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the sneaker scene, including brands, collaborators, athletes, celebrities . . .
  • The ability to work hard and consistently from home (I know how distracting it can be, believe me.)

  • Tell us about yourself, your interests, how you got into sneakers, etc.
  • Tell us what you love/hate about the HOUSE OF HEAT publication (be brutally honest)
  • Two paragraphs on the current trends in footwear — and where you see it going next
  • Attach your resume in .pdf format
  • If you have an active blog, social media page, or example writings, feel free to include these.
