Strap yourselves in for a big year ahead, as the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Georgetown” joins the lineup for Jordan Brand’s retro rampage.
The Brand will again look to its own archive for the next installment of the OG-spec sneaker, digging deep into the vault to find an absolute gem for inspiration. Reports from zsneakerheadzhas the pair arriving in a similar styling to that seen on the original Georgetown Air Jordan 1 samples that came to be in the early days of design circa 1984-85 (pictured below)
Designer Peter Moore had previously worked on the Dunks before designing the Air Jordan 1, so it was only natural that college colors came through during the sampling procedure. 2022’s Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Georgetown” is expected to arrive in much the same styling; Tech Grey leather uppers, Navy leather overlays and rubber outsoles, and white nylon tongues and midsoles are all tipped to feature. It is unclear (and unlikely) that the Hoyas embroidery will assume the position of the Wings motif as seen above. The most likely scenario is the mock-up pictured further below — a tribute to Peter Moore’s almost four-decade-old sample.
