J Balvin Unveils Triple Black Air Jordan 1 During “Omerta” Launch
J Balvin is revisiting the sneaker that helped define one of Jordan Brand’s most memorable celebrity collaborations of the past decade.
Unveiled during the launch event for his new album Omerta, the Colombian artist debuted a previously unseen J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Triple Black,” offering a darker and far more understated evolution of his original 2020 release.
That first collaboration famously debuted during Balvin’s Super Bowl halftime performance alongside Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, introducing a vibrant, tie-dye-covered Air Jordan 1 complete with jagged-cut paneling and removable velcro patches around the collar. It was loud, colorful, and impossible to miss.
This new pair flips the entire concept on its head.
Instead of multicolor overlays and psychedelic gradients, the J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Triple Black” leans into stealth styling through an almost entirely blacked-out build. Textile materials replace traditional leather construction, while the signature zig-zag panel edges and layered overlays from the original design remain intact beneath the monochromatic finish.
The sneaker’s removable velcro ankle patches return, now serving as the pair’s only real burst of color through bright smiley-face branding, finished with Balvin’s lightning-bolt eyes. Elsewhere, glossy black Wings logos blend subtly into the upper, while a semi-translucent blue-tinted outsole sits below to break up the otherwise murdered-out presentation.
The shift in execution feels intentional — and fitting given the darker tone surrounding Omerta’s rollout.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether the J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Triple Black” will be released to the public. That said, similar uncertainty surrounded Balvin’s original Air Jordan 1 before it eventually hit retail shelves, so it’s far too early to rule anything out.
For now, enjoy an early detailed look at the pair below courtesy of @ayeelectric_ and @studiobypines, and stay tuned for further updates as more information emerges.
While the release status of this Air Jordan 1 remains unclear, we do know that J Balvin’s upcoming Air Jordan 4 collaboration is still expected to release later this year.
