While the Air Jordan 1's popularity may have seen a slight wane, Jordan Brand is poised to shift perceptions with a return to form. Scheduled for 2025, the reintroduction of OG retros in original 1985 specifications, including the Air Jordan 1 High '85 'Bred' and this Air Jordan 1 Low '85 'Royal' colorway, is set to rekindle enthusiasm.
The Air Jordan 1 has undergone extensive retooling over the past decade as Jordan Brand strives to mirror the sneaker’s original 1985 appearance. For the first time, the original Jordan 1 Low 'Royal' will receive that '85 treatment.
According to Sole Retriever, the pair will arrive faithful to the original, featuring a premium all-leather upper in black with vibrant varsity royal accents, echoing the iconic design of the 1985 AJ 1. The design is completed with an aged midsole and a solid rubber outsole in royal blue, encapsulating the timeless appeal of the Jordan brand — the first retailer looks to confirm this.
Retailers the likes of A Ma Maniére are currently hosting raffles for the 'Royal' pair. Select shops will release their inventory on Saturday, Feb. 22, for $160.
The pair is also expected to release via Nike/SNKRS throughout March.
