Jordan Brand continues to reimagine His Airness' signature series in ways that cement it outside of its original run for the basketball court. Its latest experiment arrives in the form of a Big Kids' Air Jordan 1 Low inspired by peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Officially clad in a "Rush Fuchsia/Pale Ivory/Desert/Fusion Red" color combination, the impending take delivers a low-top variant to the previously seen Air Jordan 1 Mid "PB&J" retro. The newer style, however, doesn't nod as clearly to the snack inspiration since the bulk of its leather upper takes on a pinkish-purple finish instead of a bread-reminiscent tan. Nevertheless, the lifestyle take on the original Air Jordan model features the jelly "oozing" at the profile swooshes. Furthermore, iconic 23 branding printed on the insole has been reworked in a gooey style that evokes images of a PB&J sandwich being opened.
Underfoot, the experimental version of Peter Moore's 40-year-old design rounds out the playful theme with a simple "White/Gum Brown" sole unit.
