The 40th anniversary celebration of the Air Jordan 1 continues. In addition to a second, special edition release of February's '85 retro, the design's mid-top trim will launch in a black, grey, and white color scheme reminiscent of 2014's "Barons" drop.

For the uninformed, the understated color palette references the Birmingham Barons, a Minor League Baseball team for which Michael Jordan once played. Over the years, Jordan Brand has commemorated this part of the NBA legend's story, launching limited collections and utilizing the number 45 he wore upon leaving the hardwood for the first time.

The color-blocking found on the newly-surfaced Jordan 1 Mid is identical to the commemorative High launched 11 years ago. The darkest shade of the bunch wraps around the forefoot, taking over profile branding and leather at the collar. Close inspection of the inner lining that peeks above the collar reveals a lack of stripes, a detail found on the "Barons" retro.

Underfoot, Peter Moore's 40-year-old design keeps its tried-and-proven tooling intact, further reinforcing the connection to the White Sox associate's uniform.
