Air Jordan 1 Mid "Shattered Backboard" Returns with Leather Upper

Throughout its 40-year history, the Air Jordan 1 has amassed a healthy roster of iconic looks. Those from the silhouette's original run continue to be amongst the most-coveted, but modern styles have gained classic status as well.

The sneaker's "Shattered Backboard" ensemble, which was introduced in 2015, is amongst the new school makeovers that've become iconic in their own right. The combination of "Starfish/Black/White" draws inspiration from a legendary story from Michael Jordan's early professional career. The inaugural Air Jordan 1 "Shattered Backboard" is scheduled to release for the whole family in August, but it's been preceded by a mid-top done in a near-identical color scheme.

The aforementioned color trifecta isn't new to the Air Jordan 1 Mid. In fact, it appeared on the silhouette in 2019. What's different from the model's latest "Shattered Backboard" retro, however, is the use of leather across the forefoot instead of nubuck. The choice in material presents a more faithful-to-the-inspiration finish.
