Available Now // This Air Jordan 1 Rocks the Colors of the Teams that MJ Beat to Win His First Championship
Championship Run Ones.
Michael Jordan’s road to his first finals was, contrary to the post-seasons prior, a cakewalk. But that’s not because his opponents we’re walkovers — but because MJ and co. had honed in their gameplan, and wanted nothing but smoke in the ’90/’91 season. And this new Air Jordan 1 Mid (along with the previously unveiled Low-cut) will be honoring that prolific postseason ride with a special colorway that incorporates the teams Mike brushed aside along the way to his first ring — a ring he won 28 years ago to the day, on June 12th, 1991.
Round one saw Jordan take on the Knicks — whom they beat 3-0 — represented here on the blue and orange tongue tabs. Round two of the Eastern Conference finals headed to Philly, where the Bulls won convincingly 4-1, represented here on the collar and toe box — as is the Detroit Pistons, in which the boys from the Windy City demolished their D-Town rivals 4-0. Finally, the profile Swooshes represent the final stage — the Los Angeles Lakers — who succumbed to the rising Chicago dynasty 1-4 in a series that would launch the myth that is Michael Jordan. Completing the design is black Durabuck overlays and outsoles, white tongues and mid panels and red collars representing the victorious Chi-City
