Before the Air Jordan 1 fanaticism of the mid-2010s, the most-coveted sneaker from His Airness’ signature roster was widely considered to be the Air Jordan 11. In 2025, the silhouette celebrates its 30th anniversary with nine different story-driven releases—including the Atlanta-inspired "285" pair.
Prior to the last few years, Tinker Hatfield’s ninth design for Michael Jordan had been largely relegated to only one release per calendar cycle. Thus, whichever retro dropped between the months of October and December was often the most-anticipated of the year. The sneaker’s patent leather-donning look continues to evoke excitement, but it’s been largely overshadowed by other Nike, Inc. offerings. Nevertheless, the folks in Beaverton, Ore. have prepped a special celebration for the Jordan 11’s milestone occasion, which includes region-exclusives.
The “285” Air Jordan retro will only be available through select retailers across North America. It pays tribute to Atlanta's Interstate 285, the highway that loops around the city. A leather upper provides a premium base while a debossed route graphic encircles the mudguard for an ATL-appropriate touch. A series of colors animate the sock liner and footbed, nodding to the southern city’s vibrant street art scene and culture.
Pairs of the Air Jordan 11 “285” are set to release on Saturday, Nov. 22, exclusively in-store at select shops stateside. Stay tuned for a confirmed list of North American retailers.
