The Air Jordan 2 “Origins” Honors the Silhouette's Italian Roots

Make no mistake about it, the Air Jordan 2 is in. Following on from big-name collaborations with the late Virgil Abloh, Union, A Ma Maniere, and J Balvin throughout 2021-22, this year has been the season of general release drops, with countless new colorways of the silhouettes coming in both mid and low tops alike. You can add one more to that list, as Jordan Brand looks to close out the calendar year with a special Air Jordan 2 “Origins” colorway for the entire family.

The pair comes with some OG flair, as it borrows a fair chunk of its DNA from the original White/Red Air Jordan 2 from 1986 and links back to the original country-of-origin — Italy — where the originals were manufactured.

Here, the pair deploys a like-for-like white leather upper, red accents on the midfoot, liner, and heel clip, with OG-inspired rubber outsoles resting underfoot. Tweaks are plentiful, thus giving the pair a distinct feel. Switch-ups like a vibrant Fire Red selection, pops of “Fir” green at the rear panel and forefoot trim, and eggnog tints to the midsole give the pair its festive flair — which also doubles up as a nod to the silhouette's Made in Italy history.
