Mike’s First MVP Win Inspires the Upcoming “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3 Tinker
Numero Uno.
Tinker Hatfield’s genius continues to be celebrated by Jordan Brandthrough his sketch-come-release Air Jordan 3 Tinker. Kicked off last year by the White Cement edition, along with a handful of Justin Timberlake “Man of the Woods” pairings, the most recent release looked to Tinker’s work outside of Jordan Brand, celebrating the iconic Air Max 1. Now, seemingly, Jordan Brand looks to honor Michael Jordan’s first MVP win, with this Black, White and Gold iteration.
Originally reported to be a “Black Cement” edition of the Air Jordan 3 Tinker, the actual pairing sports a tri-color mix that should be no stranger to any hardcore MJ fan. A young Michael Jordan picked up his first MVP award at the age of 25 after the 1988 season donning a simple black suede blazer, white T and gold chain — long before the days of the oversized, horrible jeans, Mike had some steez:
Clearly paying homage to both that moment, Jordan Brand utilizes his iconic Black Cement 3 as the sneaker’s base, and adding in luxe suedes, matte leathers and tonal hits across the elephant print and Nike Air heel branding. What appears to be 3M reflective accents arrive on the Swoosh, tongue and mid panel, while metallic gold hits the upper eyelets, serving as a nod to Mike’s gold chain days.
Grab a first look at the pair below, and expect a release on July 27th at select Jordan retailers like Finish Lineand directly from Nike.com for $200.
