This Air Jordan 4 RM Is Here in Case You Strike Out on Nigel Sylvester's Collab
Nigel Sylvester helped the Swoosh conglomerate launch the Air Jordan 4 RM in July 2024. The restomod silhouette has gained a loyal following since, but few inline styles have been able to capture the same magic as the BMX rider's 'Grandma's Driveway' collaboration.
Although the Queens, NY native has been part of the Nike, Inc. family for decades, he only recently joined Jordan Brand as its first BMX athlete. As part of the partnership, Sylvester has lent his creative vision to a number of important silhouettes within #23's eponymous label. A proper Air Jordan 4 has been teased over the last few months under the Brick by Brick title. Sylvester's first attempt at Tinker Hatfield's iconic design is covered in an eye-catching 'Firewood Orange' that's unlike most other Air Jordan retros. A second, 'White' alternate pair previewed at the Standard Hotel in New York City on Monday, however, touches upon JB history with what seems like a nod to the AJ4's 'Fire Red' colorway. The latest restomod offering does the same.
Jordan Brand has had a long history of being self-referential, so an updated version of the Air Jordan 4 in one of the sneaker's original looks isn't farfetched. The timing, however, is curious given Sylvester's involvement with the Jordan 4 RM's launch last year. Although an exact shade of 'Fire Red' doesn't appear on the upcoming pair, the hue utilized and overall color-blocking create a clear parallel between all three styles. Nike Air text at the heel further cement the shoes in JB history.
Enjoy official photos of the Jordan 4 RM ahead. A firm Nike.com launch date hasn't been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but the pair is expected to drop before June.
