The ultimate honor for any athletic program is a sponsorship from the highly-selective Jordan Brand. Only a select few colleges over the years have been bestowed such an honor, from Mike’s alma mater UNC, to his arch rivals in Georgetown and Nike’s neighboring University of Oregon. Contracts are offered few and far between, but 2022 has seen the brand’s newest partner, the HBCU institutes of Howard University. Now, after gifting Anthony Anderson a special PE for graduation, the school’s athletic department will be getting their own exclusives, too, with a very first look at the Air Jordan 6 “Howard University” coming to light earlier today.
Honoring the school’s signature colors of white, navy, and red, the pair looks to classic white leather uppers, with navy and red rocking out along the midsoles and tongues, as well as the heel clips and liners. Bison crests hit the heel, whilst a striking “HU” motif sits on the tongue’s neoprene shroud overlay. The pair is then completed by metallic gold lace locks and hang tags.
Exclusive to college athletes, this Air Jordan 6 “Howard University” likely won’t see a retail release; however, the brand is known to reimagine college PEs for retail releases, so don’t count out any form of HU release in the future. In the meantime, enjoy a first look at the athlete-exclusive pair below.
