Another day, another leaked Air Jordan for 2022 — this time coming by way of DJFolk. This time, the notorious sneaker source has hinted at the release of a Canvas Air Jordan 3 “Muslin” for the new year; a sneaker I’ve been wanting for almost three years.

Towards the back-end of 2018 I was in conversation with the head of Jordan Brand NRG Gemo Wong about concepts, and storytelling. Before too long, the conversation turned to materials. I told him that I’d always wanted to see — especially on the lower-cut of the Air Jordan 3 — was canvas. The fabrication has been sparingly used by the Brand, only popping up on a handful of retro releases over the years. For footwear, it’s a material that’s always intrigued me. Living out here in Australia, the canvas shoe is a staple. It’s lightweight, breathable, and heavy-duty, and it makes the perfect year-round wear — especially with our nation’s scorching year-round heat. Years later, I finally whipped up a mock-up on the Air Jordan 3 — and now it appears that the vision may finally become a reality, with DJFolk breaking the news earlier today.

A first look at the Air Jordan 3 “Muslin” has landed via SNKRS Live. It shows the pair for the first time, with an off-white canvas upper, grey suede overlays, and hints of aged-look detailing at the heel and eyestays, The air is then capped off with red accents at the forefoot and branding hits, and it all rests atop a simple white and grey sole unit.

Jordan Brand has officially unveiled the Air Jordan 3 “Muslin” as part of the brand’s Spring 2022 lineup.
