It turns out that the Air Jordan 17 Low “Alternate Lightning” colorway is actually an upcoming SoleFly Air Jordan 17 Low collaboration. The Miami retailer will also be releasing a Jordan Trunner LX High “Lightning” collaboration in November, with this Air Jordan 17 Low as a follow-up for All-Star Weekend. For those of you unaware of the Lightning 17’s connection to the All-Star weekend, have a quick read of the below paragraph:
The 2001-2002 season was abuzz with MJ’s second return to the NBA, but it wasn’t always filled with highlights. If your’e old enough to remember the 2002 All-Star Game (I definitely am), you’ll remember MJ missing a wide-open breakaway dunk. The reason you wont see it nowadays is because all you get to see is his greatest, but those who do remember, MJ made lots of errors, this just happened to be one of the most memorable. But for us sneakerheads, we also remember what was on his feet. It was the Air Jordan 17 Low “Lightning”, a sneakerhead favorite of the post-Bulls era. Now we will be getting an alternate version of the sneaker – hopefully with an accompanying retro of the original.
These will release in very limited quantities in store and on Nike.com on February 16th.
