Trophy Room’s physical retail story has officially come to an end, making now a fitting time to revisit one of the rarest Air Jordan samples connected to its 2016 launch. When Marcus Jordan opened the original Trophy Room store in Orlando, the space debuted with a full run of special Air Jordan samples, spanning from the Air Jordan 1 through the Air Jordan 30. Each pair was created in a shared black, grey, and gold palette to help introduce the store’s identity from day one.
This Air Jordan 4, however, is not the exact pair that appeared on the launch wall. Instead, it is an alternate sample from the same Trophy Room opening project, offering a rare look at another version of the concept that helped define the store’s earliest visual language.
Thanks to English Sole, we can see that the pair keeps the same elevated palette in place, pairing a soft grey upper with dark grey wings, black heel tabs, metallic gold eyelets, and gold Jumpman branding on the tongue and heel. The familiar Air Jordan 4 layout remains intact, but the finish feels slightly more restrained than the version seen during the store’s opening.
The biggest shift comes underfoot, where this alternate sample uses a greyscale midsole setup rather than the brighter white-and-black tooling seen on the displayed pair. It is a small change, but it gives the shoe a different balance, letting the gold hardware and branding carry more of the attention.

As Trophy Room closes the door on its physical retail era, this sample now serves as a reminder of the brand’s first chapter — not a planned retail release, but a rare alternate from the 30-pair launch project that helped introduce Trophy Room back in 2016.
The Trophy Room x Air Jordan 4 alternate sample is not expected to release.
