Teddy Santis and his New York-based Time Leon Dore have played a huge part in streetwear’s obsession with vintage and aged-look aesthetics. It made them a perfect fit collaboration, as the two parties often jockeyed for positions on both Instagram mood boards and the NYC fashion scene. The monumental success of the ALD x NB series saw Teddy Santis tapped to head the New Balance Made in USA division, with his first collection, to no one’s surprise, equalling the level of attainment. But before we get the remainder of Teddy’s first in-house New Balance collection, he’s already teasing some upcoming efforts from Aimé Leon Dore, with the designer taking to Instagram Stories earlier this week to tease a handful of new Made in England releases including the 550 and the 991.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of New Balance’s English operations, Teddy takes on a communal wide-woven mesh between the two, with both silhouettes featuring the athletic weave across its upper in creamy hues. Both the 991 and 550 work with dark olives leathers, though the trainer trumps the retro hoops model with buttery tan leathers as its majority overlay. Both come equipped with aged-look midsoles, and special Made in England identifiers.
