Concepts is once again tapping into the tech runner market with their latest collaboration, this time on the New Balance 740. Following the success of their ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 collaboration, the Boston-based sneaker boutique has reimagined this retro running model with a modern twist.

Said to be inspired by the saignée process in Champagne creation, the first look of the shoe, courtesy of Tyler Monsour, reveals a unique gradient mesh base that shifts from light to dark green as you move from heel to toe. A bold contrast is added by the orange tongue and New Balance logo, while the light grey overlays on the toe and quarter section complement the vibrant green and orange hues. The extended heel panel ties everything together, showcasing the harmonious green and orange tones. Adding a subtle touch of luxury, the 740 is finished with cork insoles, solidifying its position in the lifestyle category.

The New Balance 740 is the latest 2010s runner to get a modern update, joining the ranks of the 1906R, 2002R, and 530 as New Balance’s revival of their classic silhouettes continues to gain momentum. The collaboration signals the brand's renewed focus on the model, and with past successes, they have big plans for the 740's comeback.

But that's not all that's in the works between these two. Rumors also point to a collaborative series of three colorways for the New Balance 1000 in 2025.

The Concepts x New Balance 740 "Saignée" will release on December 13th via Concepts' official channels.
