The blueprint for sneaker brands to reintroduce an archival model is no secret. In fact, it’s a fairly basic recipe; call in a notable collaborator to heighten the awareness of the silhouette’s reintroduction, then pepper the market with some flow-on general releases. It worked for the More Uptempo back in 2017 with Supreme, Virgil Abloh and countless Nike sneakers, and most recently, thisisneverthat and the New Balance 1906. Typically, these are followed by a slew of GR drops, including an upcoming “Protection Pack.” But before we get there, the Boston-based brand has hit-up Japanese kingpins N.HOLLYWOOD and INVINCIBLE to release an exclusive “Grey Swan” 1906R

The pair sees a return of hairy suede exteriors oft seen in previous New Balance collaborations whilst working with tonal grey overlays that aims to mimic the grey swans’ deviating feathers. Furthermore, a bright orange rear pull ostensibly draws inspiration from biologist tags oft seen on swans in the wild; It also buys into N.HOOLYWOOD’s utilitarian aesthetic.

A raffle is currently live directly on INVINCIBLE, with entries accepted through October 5th; winners will be notified on October 8th. A wider NewBalance.com release has not yet been announced.
