Jaden Smith x New Balance Vision Racer Drops July 25

First surfacing back in July of 2019, the New Balance X-Racer arrived as the second installment in the brand’s X Series of silhouettes that dare to challenge the norms of New Balance’s notorious ethos. But just when you thought it couldn’t get more daring from the Boston-based brand, this audacious New Balance Vision Racer appears — and it’s now been confirmed to be a fully-vegan collaborative release with Jaden Smith.

Arriving with a similar aesthetic to the aforementioned X-Racer, the brand once again can’t help but look back to move forward by borrowing design elements from the 1990s and early 2000s — most notably channeling the 992, the M1200, the RC205, and the M1000. It’s ultra chunky sole unit is something completely left-field for the brand, as is the atypical use of baby blues, utilitarian tongue pulls and asymmetrical eyelet placement. Oversized heel tabs are reminiscent of the Air Jordan 4, completed here with big, bold NB branding in black, with the most intriguing detail arriving underfoot: a hot pink ((VISION)) brandmark (akin to Jaden’s stylings) appearing through a translucent outsole. Underneath all of those modernized modifications, you’ll see some familiar heritage from the quarter, through the vamp and over the toe box that brings these a little closer to home for the brand.
