Last year we saw the New Balance icon, the 1500, celebrate its big 3-0 and it was arguably the silhouettes biggest year yet. In the lead-up, the sneaker had been building in demand of the back of the trainer takeover of 2014, so much so that the Boston-based brand felt the need to retool the silhouette with new features for the 21st-century market. Enter the New Balance 1530, which gets its name from the RevLite sole unit, which reduces the sneaker’s weight by 30%. Aside from that, quality and construction remained business as usual for the trainer, immediately skyrocketing the lightweight pair to popularity. Having not seen the sneaker since last October, we thought that the good times were over, but it’s just popped up in two patriotic options that will be sure to fire up your future Fourth of July cookout.
Both arriving on the same sole unit — and in the same material build and blocking — the two pairs manage to must up completely different aesthetics. The Navy option goes all-out on the upper, making way for only a few flashes of variation: collars, toe box overlays and embroidered branding offer up the complementary color pops. The same can be said for the undyed-suede edition, with the same placements sacrificed for red and navy.
Both pairs of these Made in England 1530s are available now from retailers 43einhalb for €170 (approx. $193 USD) a pop, giving you plenty of time to organize your Fourth of July wear.
In other NB News, the Boston-based brand just restocked their Ganja-Geared 991 ahead of next month’s 4/20 festivities.
