New Balance 1890 Gets Two Easy Summer Looks in "Outerspace" and "Linen Punch"
The New Balance 1890 has quickly become one of the brand’s busiest new retro-tech plays, with collaborations from Joe Freshgoods, JJJJound, and Action Bronson helping introduce the silhouette to a much wider audience. Now, New Balance is keeping the inline run moving with two new seasonal colorways: "Outerspace" and "Linen Punch."
Both pairs continue the model’s blend of archival running cues and modern lifestyle appeal. The 1890 combines design language from the 890v3 with tooling inspired by the original 2002, resulting in a layered runner that feels familiar without simply repeating one of New Balance’s existing classics.
The New Balance 1890 "Outerspace" leans into the stronger of the two palettes. A tan mesh base gives the shoe a warm foundation, while deep navy overlays sweep across the toe, midfoot, and heel in the model’s signature flame-like formation. Light blue lining softens the look, with teal-tinted ABZORB pods adding a subtle hit of color underfoot.
The "Linen Punch" colorway keeps things far more understated. Dressed almost entirely in beige and cream tones, the pair uses a mix of mesh, leather, and suede-like overlays to give the neutral palette some depth. Silver accents on the oversized "N" logos, toe details, and heel trim add just enough contrast, while the aged midsole finish gives the pair a more worn-in feel.
Together, the two releases show the range of the 1890: one slightly bolder, one clean and tonal. Both still sit comfortably inside New Balance’s current retro-runner lane, where comfort, layered materials, and easy styling remain the focus.
The New Balance 1890 "Outerspace" and "Linen Punch" are scheduled to release on June 25 via NewBalance.com for $180 each.
