The New Balance 1906R might not be the brand's current "bread-and-butter," but it continues to emerge in refreshing color schemes that allow the company to compete in the ever-popular mesh runner space.
Ahead of spring, New Balance designer Yue Wu took to Instagram (@flyin_asparagus) to tease a trio of the retro silhouette. The China-native has previously shared upcoming work via the social platform, all-but-confirming that the pastel-covered pairs he featured recently will land throughout the impending season.
The New Balance 1906R trio features a faux-aged midsole that firmly cements the styles in the Neo-vintage trend. Uppers are complemented by metallic silver panels that harken back to the NB 1906's performance running origins. (By contrast, the size? x New Balance 2002R 'Refined Future' collection skews more towards the lifestyle aesthetic.) Hits of pink, green, and yellow animate each offering, providing seasonal flair to the technical silhouette. Each pair's inspiration likely derives from nature, which blooms throughout spring.
No official word has surfaced about a proper NewBalance.com release for the previewed trio, but that's likely to change by June. In any case, enjoy a closer look at the NB 1906R pairs below while you wait.
