Perhaps outside of the 550, there’s no hotter New Balance silhouette right now than the 2002R. Coming hot off a fresh new set of “Protection Pack” colorways, and a collaborative effort from Joe Freshgoods (who also did a 550, too), the heritage design is climbing the ranks. Now it’s appeared in another new grey and navy make — but it’s not your average or typical.
Working in a staple grey mesh, the pair looks to tonal leather overlays, and brown-tinted suede for the bulk, with brown leathers in the back, and classic navy and red accents found throughout the pair’s branding. From there, things take a turn, with the fairly obvious removable ripstop pouch — its contents unknown — to washed-look sole units akin to those seen on the aforementioned Protection Pack releases. There’s also a striking splash of metallic silver at the midfoot and toe underlay that complete the design.
Grab a close-up look at the release for yourself below, and with pairs arriving at retailers in Europe this April, you should expect to see these touch down locally soon.
