New Balance 550 “Shifted Sport Pack” Drops September 1st

Like most retro model resurgences, the New Balance 550 enjoyed a big-name collaboration to kick things off before its fully-fledged flooding of the market. That link-up was with Aimé Leon Dore last year, who returned again with two more vintage-treated options this year. Naturally, we’re assuming that you missed out on a pair of those, but if you’re a fan of the heritage aesthetic, then there’s a trio of old-school options hitting shelves next month that fit the mold.
The New Balance 550 “Shifted Sport” collection pays tribute to original colorways worn by basketball players in the late 80’s, namely the Bulls, Kings, and Magic. All three arrive in the same blocking and construction, with accenting colors the only differentials. Perforated white leather, white mesh, and smooth black leather overlays form the bulk, with black plastic heel clips, liners, and rear branding bolstering up the pairs. Heel overlays, midfoot N’s forefoot 550’s and outsoles host the color pops of red, green, and blue respectively to complete the design/
