New Balance has kept the 557 on hold for a minute, but it’s slowly finding its way back into their release rotation. A vibrant multi-colored Made in UK and Sneakersnstuff’s special-edition “Grown Up” releaseresumed the proceedings, and now this classic Navy and Grey rendition join the silhouette’s Fall lineup.

While 2019 has seen the Boston-based brand experiment more than any other year, they haven’t forgotten their roots. This Made in England offering shows just how clean a classic can be, utilizing an almost all-navy makeup. The Mesh toe to the all-over Navy suede engulf the majority of the shoe, with contrasting hits arriving at the midfoot in classic grey; the ENCAP midfoot hardware, “N” motif and forefoot under all arrive in greyscale, as does the ENCAP midsole. Navy outsoles keep things in line with the brand’s heritage ethos, while a hint of the new wave New Balance pops up via bold red tongue liners and branding hits at the heels.
