The New Balance 992 Appears in an Ultra-90s Aesthetic

If anything has become apparent over the past few weeks for New Balance, its that the brand has bet big on both the 327 and 992 silhouettes for the seasons ahead — and from the looks of things, the bet will pay off big time. New editions of both sneakers have appeared in droves, and luckily, the market is eating them all up. As for the latter, we’ve uncovered countless new colorways over the past few weeks — a handful of which provide some uncharacteristic New Balance colors. Now another has appeared, this time sporting an ultra-90s palette of black, purple, and teal.

Here, the silhouette ditched its staple mesh uppers in favor of popping purple ripstop, contrasted by stark black and grey vamp overlays. Mudguards, toes, tongues, and heels are wrapped in teal suede, with a slightly lighter shade lining the midfoot N, and heel and forefoot accents. Adding in some flashes of warmth are pops of orange-red at the upper eyelets and heel clip before the silhouette cools things down with a staple grey/white split midsole. Capping off the sneaker at the inferior and superior ends is a full-length purple rubber outsole and like-colored sock and tongue liners.
