If you have not seemed to notice, there’ has been a colossal shift in the sneaker space into foam-based footwear. Clogs, slides and the like are taking over the market, with Kanye West considered the pioneer of the trend. As is the case for a lot of Kanye’s creations, others follow. Saleh Bembury, Jordan Brand, adidas, and even Dior have all created exoskeleton or clog-like slippers made of foam; and now it’s New Balance’s turn to enter the market.
Aligning itself with a more traditional shape, the New Balance Clog keeps a mule-like back end and upward-shifting toe that’s akin to the classic wooden variety worn by the Dutch for centuries. Here, though, New Balance has squared out the toe, added ventilation points, and incorporated several brandmarks; most noticeably the oversized midfoot N motif.
Pairs are currently slated to arrive in both beige and black on July 1st in Korea, though a wider global rollout is yet to be revealed. Until then, enjoy a first look at the new design below, and as always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
