The New Balance X-Racer Utility Just Dropped in Two Vibrant Options

Originally thought to be a standalone rugged offering, it now appears that Bodega’s upcoming New Balance X-Racer collaborationwill be kicking off the cross-trainer’s entirely new utility edition, with an adapted version of the sneaker appearing in two debut colorways.

The freshly conceived trainer has wasted no time in delivering an alternate utility edition, and as you’d expect it does come with some major retoolings and outdoor-inspired colorways to boot. Construction-wise, uppers have been replaced for water-resistant ripstop, with traditional suede taking shape across the toe, mudguard, and heel. Heavy-duty lockdowns are delivered across the forefoot and ankle, with the former opting for tough twill, and the latter by-way-of an Air Jordan 4-esque wings. Speaking on the Jordan 4, the rear plastic tabs look eerily familiar, as does the rear midsole clip which takes on a similar shaped to that seen on the Air Jordan 6. Underfoot you’ll find a thick rubber outsole designed for premium traction in all conditions, and the build is complete with thick mesh tongues and outdoor-inspired rope laces.

The rugged build will debut in two general release colorways, “Mirage” and “Outer Space” each offering up vastly different yet very familiar palettes. The Mirage boasts a classic ACG-like mix of black and grey popped with vivid purple, yellow and red, while the Outer Space suits up in earthy beige, cream, orange and blue. Both pairs are already available at Aussie retailers Above the Clouds, but are yet to surface anywhere else — nor has an official international release date. But with Bodega’s drop happening on June 25th, the global rollout of general releases shouldn’t be too far away. Until more news lands, take in a quick look at both pairs here below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for further updates.
